COPPA notice

The short version: Loopz is made for children, so we designed it to need as little of their information as possible. A child plays anonymously with a code. We don't ask kids for any personal information, we don't show them ads, and parents can review or delete their data at any time.
Why this notice exists
Loopz is intended for children, including those under 13, so we take the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the spirit behind it seriously. This notice explains, in plain language, what we collect from children, what we don't, and the rights you have as a parent. It sits alongside our full Privacy policy.
What we collect from children
As little as possible, and a parent or guardian provides it, not the child. During a short, consented setup, the parent chooses a nickname for the child (we ask that it not be their real full name) and may optionally pick a grade level to set the starting difficulty; skipping it lets the game find the right level by play, so no age is stored. Alongside that, we keep gameplay records tied to an anonymous explorer code: which missions were started and solved, stars earned, whether a hint was used, time in the app, and in-game actions like cosmetic items earned with Lux. That information powers the game and the parent progress report, nothing else.
What we never collect from children
- Real or full name
- Date of birth
- Photos, video, or voice
- Location
- Contacts, phone number, or email
Children are never asked to type personal information to play (the nickname and optional grade are set by a parent at setup), and Loopz has no open chat or way for children to share personal details with strangers.
No advertising to children
We show no ads of any kind, and we never use a child's activity to build an advertising profile or to track them across other sites and apps.
How a child gets access
During the private beta, an explorer code is provided to a parent or guardian, who decides whether their child uses Loopz. Any email we hold (for the waitlist or support) comes from the adult, not the child.
Your rights as a parent
At any time, you can:
- Review the information associated with your child's profile and explorer code.
- Delete it, and ask us to stop collecting further data.
- Withdraw from the beta entirely.
Just email hello@loopz.app from any address and tell us your explorer code. A real person (the founder) will handle it promptly.
Service providers
We use a small set of trusted providers to run Loopz (database, hosting, analytics, waitlist email), described in our Privacy policy. They process data only to operate the service. Only our database provider stores a child's nickname, optional grade, and progress, solely to run the game and the parent report; our analytics and email tools never receive any child's information.
